How long have you been paddling?

I’ve been paddling for 4 years. I started out one year just racing sea kayaks and got into my surfski my second year racing. I’ve been practically living in it for the past three years. I’ve been trying to get into flat water ICF boats recently too
Primary Paddling Location:

Stockton Springs, ME
Favorite Surfski Race, Why?

My favorite race is the Surfski Nationals in San Francisco. It was the biggest surfski race I’ve ever been to, and by far the roughest conditions I’ve ever paddled in. It was challenging but extremely fun.

My dad and mom, Rod and Bert McLain

What you like about surfskis, surfski racing, paddling: As a young paddler, I love that I have found a sport that I am doing purely for myself and on my own. It’s something that I’ve watched myself grow up with, and I can actually see myself getting better with every race. It’s something I can love outside of school and see myself doing for decades to come (just look at my competitors *smiles*). It’s my chance to work hard, feel proud, and be at my favorite place: the beach.
